SAFE CHURCH
EVERYONE SHOULD FEEL SAFE AT CHURCH.
Everyone - from young children to the elderly and those with special needs
or vulnerabilities - has a right to feel safe at our church and in our ministries.
Our Safe Church program ensures that our church is a place of spiritual,
emotional, mental and physical safety for everyone.
All pastoral staff, leaders and any volunteers who work with children are
approved to work with children in our ministries through the Presbyterian
Church of Victoria's Safe Church Policy and Code of Conduct.
WHAT DOES 'SAFE CHURCH APPROVED' MEAN?
Pastoral staff, leaders and any volunteers who work with children complete a Volunteer Approval Process, which is overseen by our church's Safe Church Representative. Working with children at our church requires:
-
compliance with all Victorian legislative requirements, including a current Victorian Government Working with Children Child
-
personal reference checks
-
completing Safe Church Basic Training, which outlines safe practices for working with children
-
completing 'Refresher Training' each year, which reinforces these safe practices.
